Services for Larry Vierra, Past State Rainbow Dad for the Frolicking Frogs of 1998 will be held this Saturday February 19, 2011 at 2 PM

Community Presbyterian Church
2088 Georgia St.
Vallejo, CA

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made payable to the “California Rainbow For Girls Foundation” or payable to “CRFGF” and mailed to 17910 Joshua Drive, Yorba Linda, CA 92886. The family will of course be notified of all donations and letters of acknowledgement will be written from here.

Larry was a pillar of dedication and strength to generations of Rainbow Girls. His death is a great loss to California Rainbow. He generously shared copies of the thousands of pictures he took with adults and girls of all ages. He always had a positive and sincere greeting for everyone he met in our fraternal family. He was totally and continuously supportive of each of his Grand Officers of 1998. What a joy it was for so many of us to have him with us for the Last OV in Vallejo this past January 16.  His hours of service statewide and particularly to Northern Camp will long be remembered with sincere gratitude. We wish to extend the warm hand of sympathy to Betty, their family and their many friends.

Due to the conflict with the Reception of our Grand Worthy Advisor and various leadership training events this same weekend, most of us will be unable to attend the services but will no doubt share fond memories of the ways that Larry touched our lives with meaning and purpose.

Dear Rainbow Family.
Denise Johnson Moore, Past Grand Editor and Madelaine’s niece is coordinating a display of Madelaine’s creations for the Memorial Service on February 26. If you have something special that Madelaine made for you that you would like to share, please bring it to Paradise. Please let Denise know so space can be allowed. Please attach a 3 by 5 or 4 by 6 inch card with your name, the special event Madelaine made it for and the date so everyone can enjoy the display and some of the history to the piece.

Dear California Rainbow Family,

A Memorial Service will be held honoring Madelaine Dalton, Grand Deputy Emeritus, on Saturday February 26, 2011 at 1 PM. The location will be the Table Mountain Masonic Center in Paradise. The address is: 5934 Clark Rd. Paradise CA 95969-4803.

The Family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in Madeleine’s memory be made payable to the California Rainbow For Girls Foundation or CRFGF designated for the Anna Lind Scholarship Fund on the memo line of the check.

Madelaine will be long remembered in the hearts of California Rainbow Girls. She served in many capacities over a period of at least 35 years. She sewed for hundreds of Rainbow Girls and Rainbow adults and gave most generously of her creative talents in design and color coordination. She was also an accomplished artist. Her assemblies and the Grand Assembly of California benefited greatly from her skills in typesetting and she personally wrote many of our publications. She was instrumental in the institution of Paradise Assembly and the revitalization of Concord Assembly. She held the title of Mother Advisor for Grand Assembly 1995. Her special brand of humor was gift to all who knew her. It would be appropriate for the assemblies in her area and others she has touched to drape the altar in her memory.

With respect and honor,

2/5/2011 need help

Rose Assembly will be celebrating their 50th anniversary at the end of the year.  Unfortunately many of the records have been lost.  I have been attempting to put together a full list of members and a full list of PWAs with their terms.  I am blank from 1976 to 1995.  Any and all help will be appreciated.

Dear California Rainbow Family,

“Death, my young woman, with all its solemnity may come to you, but your soul is immortal. Even though your body may die, you shall live forever…..remember that whatever your plan may be, or whatever fruit it may seem to bear, the wise girl is one who ever remembers that the last enemy is death.”  It was the Master of Life, who said, “I am the resurrection and the life, he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live, and whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die.”

California Rainbow has in indescribable loss. We have lost Kassie Lee. She passed away on Monday. She was with us all on Sunday where she did the sound page work at the First Official Visit. She and I even sat and talked in my car after the OV. She was looking forward to her trip down here next week for the Leadership Team Retreat. She did have a “paramedic event” about a year and ½ ago but it was determined at that time that she had a reaction to an antibiotic she was taking. It may be some time before we know why her heart stopped. She was found at home by her parents when she didn’t return phone calls.

We will keep the California Rainbow website updated with Funeral arrangements.

In Rainbow Love and Service,
Sara Lee Martin, Supreme Inspector

5/26/2010 Ellen Griffin update Hello Dear Friends,

I see that Gary kept you all informed (or over informed, bless his heart) as I progressed through some pretty tough surgery and rehab. I am indeed home and just now am beginning to sit and read the many emails sent with your prayers, support and some VERY funny comments to keep me trying to laugh! I'm still in lots of pain, and will wear a back brace for the next 3 months - then therapy begins. I will never be 5'9" ever again, but I am certainly taller than I was, as long as I have support right now, which is terrific news for me. I still use the walker and sometimes a cane and I hope I can sustain it. But - it is abundantly clear to me that it is through the prayers and support from all of you that has helped this occur and I can't thank you enough. Thank goodness for pain medication that I did not fully understand what was going on until later. Apparently the surgery was stopped after about 6 or 7 hours due to blood loss the first day. Surgery was resumed after a days rest, then 6 more hours of surgery. No wonder I still hurt - owie!

I had great care however and it continues here at home by my most wonderful Mr. Honey - Gary. I am SO blessed by having this man in my life. God has truly blessed me all around and has surrounded me by wonderful friends as well.

I didn't mean for this to be so long, but I am just so thankful for you all and for your wonderful love and support. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Love, Ellen
